Work Sets You Free T-Shirt – Deadline Designs

19 12 2009

I found a strange inspiration in this design as I read the news that thieves stole the Nazis’ infamous sign declaring “Arbeit Macht Frei” – German for “Work Sets You Free” – on Friday December 18 from the entrance of the former Auschwitz death camp.

The slogan “Arbeit Macht Frei” appeared at the entrances of other Nazi camps, including Dachau and Sachsenhausen. The long curving sign at Auschwitz is considered the best known and it is the basis of my design.

Mea Culpa – Deadline Designs

25 10 2008

This is a design like no other in my collection because it is rather gothic and dark. It is inspired on the Spanish culture, in a day called The Day of the Nazarene, in which the participants of the ceremony slash their naked backs for several hours and walk on their bleeding knees to fulfill the promises given to the Nazarene Christ. I think the ritual was originated during the Inquisition when Torquemada ruled. The Latin phrase ‘Mea Culpa’ means ‘I’m guilty’ and it was popularized in a song by the group Enigma, one of my favorite musical groups.

The design will be submitted to Threadless site as soon as I figure out the neat effects they have. For now, to order the design item, go to this section. I assure you it is an attention-grabber design if you dare to wear. Thanks.

UK England Earthquake 2008 Sweatshirt – Deadline Designs

29 02 2008

I designed this graphic concept as a reminder of Mother Earth’s natural forces, but I also found it interesting the numerology of the quake on 02-2008 during a leap year. Available for men and women. Link to purchase item.
